The garden surrounds three sides of the house (a field forms the fourth side) it is about an acre and joins fencelessly on to our woods then the woods in general. Over the last twenty-five years it has been progressively developed from the original field. There are many roses, salvias and penstamen and several walnut, apple and cherry trees. Three plane trees feature in the south garden and a mulberry tree in the east garden. The near woods comprise oaks, limes, grey poplar and pines.
